Hector grew up in Patterson, NJ a crime-ridden, poor community. To survive, he joined a gang at the age of 11 and willingly committed crimes, including robbery, and assault. An accident changed his life when a doctor’s kindly sponsored his college fee. With Dr. Ellen’s help, Hector successfully passed 2 years at community college, achieving highly, became a member of the Honor Society, interned at two large investment banks, and became a school leader. Hector transferred to Columbia University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in science, and then stayed at Columbia to obtain a master’s degree in neuroscience. He intends to go to medical school.

Prof. Ellen successfully helped Jin, a girl from South Korea. She appeared to be ashamed of her ability to speak English but with great help from Dr. Ellen who was willing to meet with her once a week to improve her English grammar, to converse and discuss any issues or concerns, her stress levels eased. After 15 weeks, she began to excel in class, even participating in discussions. Jin transferred to NYU to continue her studies.
